The Greater Fort Worth Association of REALTORS® gathered at the Ridglea Country Club on Wednesday for a celebration of member recognition. The GFWAR Awards Luncheon is held annually to commemorate the outstanding members of the association and their accomplishments both professionally and within the community.
The REALTOR® of the Year Award was given to Gaye Reed. Reed began her career as a REALTOR® in 2002 with Coldwell Banker Tanglewood. In her second year, she earned entry into the Coldwell Banker International Sterling Society, which is the top five percent of Coldwell Banker agents. She has also achieved Coldwell Banker International Diamond Society and President’s Circle, the top three and two percent of agents. Reed has served on several GFWAR committees, and chaired the Governmental Affairs committee in 2015. She also facilitates the full day historic homes course. From 2008 to 2016, she served as a City of Fort Worth Zoning Commissioner and currently serves on the Fort Worth Library Advisory Board and the Board of Directors for Historic Fort Worth.
The Affiliate of the Year Award was given to Meagan Kendrick. Kendrick, Senior Escrow Officer at McKnight Title, has played a big role in the success of many GFWAR events. Currently she is the Chair of the GFWAR Young Professionals Network, and a founding member of the group. In 2015 she was the chair of the Greenbriar Committee, which raises funds for Greenbriar Elementary School with an annual Christmas party. She began her career in real estate in 2003 and is one of a small number of affiliates to be selected for the Texas REALTORS® Leadership Program, which she graduated form in 2016. Outside of real estate, Meagan is a member of the Red Shoe Society for Ronald McDonald House and the Junior Women’s Club of Fort Worth.
The REALTOR® Spirit Award is given to a member who exhibits enthusiastic involvement in the profession, the association, and the community. This year’s recipient, Shannon Ashkinos, is a broker associate with JP & Associates. Ashkinos began her real estate career over 21 years ago. She holds several designations including Certified Negotiations Expert, Military Relocation Professional, Certified Urban Expert, and is a graduate of the Texas REALTORS® Leadership Program. She is also an instructor for the association and has developed technology courses for GFWAR. Her greatest passion outside of real estate is speaking and leading women’s bible studies, and she was a children’s minister for four years.
The REALTOR® organization is a collective force working to influence and shape the real estate industry on the national, state and local levels. Offering a strong voice in government and a variety of professional development opportunities, the REALTOR® organization works to advance its members in the industry.
