Fort Worth/Tarrant County Charter Schools Coalition Mission:
As a community that believes all students deserve a free, quality public education, the purpose of the Charter Schools Coalition is to align multiple stakeholders in a collective vision to best serve the students and families of Fort Worth and Tarrant County by creating a shared understanding of our collective beliefs and strengths and communicating it with our communities.
About Public Charter Schools:
Public charter schools were created by the state in 1995 to have the flexibility to adapt to the educational needs of individual students and encourage more innovation in education. Like traditional ISD schools, public charter schools are tuition-free, open enrollment, and accountable to the state for student achievement. Charter campuses have the option of buying textbooks other than those approved by the state and have greater flexibility in hiring practices, which provide public charters opportunities to innovate. Most important, public charter schools offer a choice that allows parents and students to be more involved in a structured environment where students can achieve.
